Your Virtue is a measure of how “Good” or “Evil” you are. It is a hyperbolic tangent function of your actions, meaning the further you get from 0% (truly neutral) the slower you will progress towards +/-100%.
Your actions affect your Virtue as follows:

Mystics are limited in how far their Virtue can deviate from zero, as not all of the above actions are available to them. Only an Immortal can attain -100% or +100%
Attaining a Virtue score of -100% or +100% leads to Enlightenment and immediate and irrevocable promotion to Level 6, regardless of whether you are part of a Group (Clan/Pack etc) and regardless of your level within a Group. Enlightenment is elusive and the path to enlightenment is a mystery, being different for each character. All that is known is that it takes a lot of every action to attain Enlightenment.
Having a truly neutral (0%) Virtue makes you immune to both the Sanctify and Blaspheme attacks and so has benefits of its own, however to remain truly neutral is a difficult task in a world where most actions carry a Virtue impact.
