Soul Trading

Every Immortal has a soul.  Owning their soul confers no special abilities and is symbolic only.  There are 4 operations you can perform on souls.  These are found under the “Souls” heading on the left page of the HUD (or under Immort->[MORE] on the Empower Magick integrated Immortals HUD).HUDDiag2013010401-SoulFuncs

Restrictions

You must be within 10m of an Immortal in order to perform a soul function on them.  Soul functions do not work on Mortals or Mystics

GiveSoul

This function is used to transfer a soul you hold to another Immortal or a Soul Cage.  Affects your virtue negatively unless you are returning a soul to its original owner, which affects your virtue positively, or to a Soul Cage that you own, which has no effect on your Virtue.

  • Click the GiveSoul button
  • You will be prompted for the target you wish to give the soul to (must be within 10m of you)
  • You will then receive a TextBox which allows you to specify a soul name to give, out of the souls you hold.  You may enter a partial legacy name or display name.  the HUD will search the souls you hold and display those which match.  Leave the search box blank to see all souls you hold.  Click the Submit button once you have entered your search term, if any
  • The HUD will display a dialog menu of the souls you hold which match your search term.  Click the soul you wish to transfer

See the Souls section of the Reference Guide for details on Soul Cages

GatherSoul

This function is used to retrieve souls lost to the void.  You must be within 10m of the target whose soul you want to retrieve.  Affects your virtue positively.

  • Click the GatherSoul button
  • Select the target whose soul you wish to retrieve

StealSoul

This function attempts to steal a soul held by another Immortal or Soul Cage.  You must be within 10m of the target whose soul you want to retrieve (not the current holder of the soul – they need not be present).  Affects your virtue negatively, unless you are stealing from a Soul Cage that you own, in which case your Virtue is not affected.

  • Click the StealSoul button
  • Select the target whose soul you wish to steal

If the holder of the soul has a Talisman activated to protect the souls they hold, you will use up to 1000 Vitae and the Talisman will be depleted by up to 1000 Vite multiplied by your Species Strength.  If the Talisman holds less Vitae than you have expended, your attempt will succeed, otherwise it will fail.

See the Souls section of the Reference Guide for details on Soul Cages and the Talisman section of the Reference Guide for details on how Talismans work.

FreeSoul

This function attempts to release the soul of the target to the void and will increase your Virtue:

  • Click the FreeSoul button
  • Select your target (must be within 10m of you)

If the holder of the soul has a Talisman activated to protect the souls they hold, you will use up to 1000 Vitae and the Talisman will be depleted by up to 1000 Vite multiplied by your Species Strength.  If the Talisman holds less Vitae than you have expended, your attempt will succeed, otherwise it will fail.
